DIY Shrug featuring and dress combo featuring McCalls M8438

Hi Guys! I hope 2023 is treating everyone well so far. I've been really appreciating the little things lately: like the simple morning routines and every day nuances that you don't take stock in regularly. One of those things is the crackle of opening a new pattern----It's my favorite. Especially when it's a pattern you're truly excited about and this pattern is a prime example.

First of all it comes with a shrug!

This peaked my late 90s Nostalgia. I remember being in middle school and seeing all of the girlies wearing shrugs and thinking they were so posh. I mean like very Victoria Beckham--- yes that's what year it was.

This pattern has a bit of a modern take with 3 options 2 of which are cross body. I chose view C which is a turtle neck featuring a faux wrap bodice. When paired with the dress pattern it creates a keyhole neckline---so sophisticated. For the fabric I used this burnt orange rib knit I found at Joann's.

I also made view E which is the longer dress view. I'm definitely going to redo this dress pattern because: A) It comes together very quickly---you can sew it it in one afternoon, B) The fit is so flattering and deliciously drapy C) It's versatile you can dress it up or down---- I cannot stress how useful that is when stocking your wardrobe. I used a lightweight knit that I also got on sale from Joann's which will be perfect when transitioning to spring.

I loved the whole look so much I made a second dress... a simple bodycon tube dress with the

leftover fabric from the shrug, which was dope. It gives me a day and night look
