Tropicana

Hey Guys! New week new make. I’ve been wishing I was on vacation somewhere tropical so when I saw this fabric I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it.

And Voila. Behold this DIY tie front coordinate set featuring yet another McCalls pattern: 7937. This pattern is so cute it actually kind of reminds me of McCalls 7789 which is one of my favorites. I cut view A size 16.

I wanted to change it up a lil bit so I decided to add an exaggerated drape sleeve for a lil drama. I just used a basic sleeve pattern and attached it to the straps and sandwiched the lower armhole between the bodice and the facing. It required a little finagling but worked to my liking.

I then used a simple maxi skirt I already had as a basis for the skirt pattern, but instead of making it a button down front like the original skirt, I added an invisible zipper in the back and a thigh high slit in the front. (Side not while on location looking for a spot to take pictures a very nice lady told me I looked fabulous which made my day.)

All in all I love how it came out and I’ll be wearing it to someone’s resort soon!
